Your interview suit is one of the most important wardrobe purchases you'll ever make. Your suit should fit you perfectly, be comfortable and add to your self-confidence. The perfect suit will, when matched with the correct shirt and tie, make you feel totally at ease.
What should you look for? Let's start with color. Navy is the best choice. It is stylish enough to wear anywhere, anytime, any season and most colors match it beautifully. Wear it with grey, brown, burgundy and green. To look your absolute best, choose shirt colors that match your skin tone.
Jacket Cut: The single-breasted, two-buttoned jacket with medium lapels is by far the best choice. The hem of the jacket should fall where your fist ends when your arms are at your side. Approximately ˝ inch of shirt cuff should show. The back vent should stay closed and the jacket should fit neatly around the shoulders without any pulling.
Pants: Pants can be flat front or pleated. It is your choice, however, a flat front will make you look slimmer if that is your desire. Pants should not drag on the ground or be too short. The proper pant length is one that has break at the instep.
Fabric: The best choice is wool since it is heavy enough to wear in cold temperatures and still light enough for summer.
Fit: The right fit is a must. You should be able to move around comfortably in it, not have any gaps at the buttons, and no bulging at the back. If you have any problems with fit, get the suit tailored properly.
